About Us
Zoe Belle Gender Collective (ZBGC) is a trans and gender diverse (TGD) led advocacy organisation based in Victoria, Australia.
Formerly known as the Zoe Belle Gender Centre, Zoe Belle Gender Collective was founded in 2007 and is named in honour of late transgender activist Zoe Belle.
Our vision
To champion a society where trans and gender diverse people hold a valued and respected place, are empowered, celebrated and live freely from discrimination and violence.
Mission statement
We work as dynamic leaders empowering trans and gender diverse communities to lead social change and fiercely advocate for justice. In doing this work, we recognise and reflect upon our privilege and power to ensure that we are accountable to our community. We aim to work collaboratively, redistributing power by ensuring diverse voices are valued and by challenging and dismantling harmful systems and structures. We commit to doing this work from a place of compassion, care and empathy.
ZBGC currently has two areas of strategic focus:
- Improving the lives and well-being of TGD young people and their families. This is led through our long-running Youth Project which provides inclusive practice training, sector advice, community resources, events and youth workshops. It is part of the Healthy Equal Youth (HEY) partnership and is funded by the Victorian Government.
- The primary prevention of gendered violence experienced by trans and gender diverse people. Our flagship campaign in this space, Transfemme.com.au, is a world-leading website and resource series that promotes healthier relationships between trans women and cisgender men.
ZBGC is auspiced by Thorne Harbour Health, who we thank and acknowledge for their valuable support.
Please note: Currently we do not have the capacity to provide individual social support or consultation services directly to trans and gender diverse people and their families.
